Deep injection utilizes a three-dimensional grid, with injection locations laid out across the surface of the area to be lifted and each injection location having one or more injection points at specified depths underground. Injection depths are determined based on an investigation of subsurface conditions, either via a geotechnical report provided by an engineer or by field testing with a dynamic cone penetrometer performed by the installing contractor. Often, both methods are used in tandem.
